Phone models vary by provider and availability. While newer models are not guaranteed, all providers supply modern, reliable smartphones (such as an iPhone 8 or newer) that are fully compatible with their networks and current apps.

Yes, in most cases, you can port your existing phone number to the new service. You will need to provide your account information from your previous carrier during the application process. Be sure not to cancel your old service until the number transfer is complete.

The Lifeline and ACP programs are federal initiatives available in all states, territories, and on Tribal lands. However, provider offerings and phone models can vary by location. The best way to know for sure is to start the application process.

To continue your free service, you must recertify your eligibility once every year. Your service provider will notify you by mail, email, or text when it's time to recertify. The process is simple and can usually be done online in a few minutes.

If your application is denied, the National Verifier will provide a reason. Common reasons include blurry documents or incorrect information. You will have the opportunity to correct any errors and re-submit your application.

The Lifeline and ACP benefits are limited to one per household, not one per person. A household is defined as a group of people who live together and share income and expenses.
